NV-4 is a dry running mechanical seal using graphite rings and a shaft sleeve. The carbon floating ring seal consists of a seal housing, shaft sleeve, and graphite rings. The operating clearance of a carbon floating ring seal is typically 0.01–0.04 mm.The shaft sleeve is coated with wear-resistant ceramic or silicon carbide materials. The carbon floating ring seal operates with nitrogen as a barrier gas.It supports temperatures from –120 °C to 800 °C and pressures up to 75 bar.It works by gas film throttling to reduce leakage.Carbon floating ring seals are used in turbines, compressors, and other rotating machines. Can be used as a replacement for Burgmann WD200 type.
