API PLAN 72+75

  1. Complies with API 682 (Plan 72 + Plan 75) configuration concept, suitable for Arrangement 2 non-pressurized double mechanical seals with dry-running isolation/containment seal.
  2. Plan 72 buffer gas module: Provides pressure reduction and regulation, filtration, flow indication/measurement, check and throttling (orifice/needle valve), achieving stable purging.
  3. Buffer gas pressure is controlled below the seal chamber pressure to prevent backflow into the process, enhancing operational safety.
  4. Plan 75 condensate/leak collection: Equipped with a collection tank and liquid level indication (optional level switch/transmitter); condensate is collected centrally for quantitative monitoring. The gas phase vent can be routed to recovery or flare systems.
  5. Liquid phase drainage outlet provided (optional normally-closed discharge valve or centralized drainage).
  6. Optional features: Pressure/flow/level interlock alarms, explosion-proof electrical equipment, trace heating and insulation, backplate assembly, quick-connect fittings and isolation valve panel, modular design for easy on-site installation and maintenance, standardized interfaces for convenient piping layout.

The Plan 72 + 75 seal support system (API 682) is used for API 682 Arrangement 2 (non-pressurized double mechanical seals with dry-running isolation/containment seal) applications. In this system:

  • Plan 72 supplies external buffer gas (commonly nitrogen) to the seal chamber to provide stable purging and dilution, carrying away leakage from the inner seal.
  • In conjunction with Plan 75, any condensate generated in the seal chamber is collected, monitored, and safely discharged via a condensing leak collection tank. The gaseous phase can be routed to recovery or a flare system, ensuring low emissions and enabling safer, more controllable seal operation.
