The Plan 53A reservoir and its system (API 682 Plan 53A) is a barrier fluid supply unit used for pressurized double-ended mechanical seals. The system pressurizes the barrier fluid in the reservoir via an external pressure source, and during pump operation, circulates the fluid through a pump ring or thermosiphon effect, delivering clean, pressure-stable barrier fluid to the seal faces. This provides lubrication, removes frictional heat, and reduces the risk of leakage and coking. The system is suitable for applications with strict leakage control requirements, flammable, explosive, or toxic media, or conditions requiring zero external emission. Cooling, measurement, alarm, and interlock configurations can be integrated according to project requirements, facilitating on-site maintenance and operational management.
